English is the most widely spoken language worldwide, with approximately 1.5 billion speakers.
It therefore goes without saying that having a good command of English can give us access to most countries in the world. Most students who get scholarships to study abroad have been forced to learn the languages of the countries that have sponsored their courses. With good knowledge in English, one can therefore have direct access to study in English speaking countries.
English is also a career subject. Most careers require somebody to have good English knowledge. English is the major language of the commonwealth. This means that as a lawyer, teacher, journalist or any professional, one can practice in any commonwealth country.
